DJmag Top 100 DJs 2010 Cheating Investigation

DJmag has uncovered a number of voting irregularities in this year’s DJmag Top 100 DJs. Several DJs are currently being investigated and the magazine is taking any attempts to garner more votes by cheating very seriously. For the last 4 years DJmag have been aware of advancing attempts to score fake votes and subsequently tightened all computer systems and guidelines to ensure this cannot be attempted successfully. Rest assured, every year thousands of votes are discounted that we deem suspicious and 2010 will be no different.

Since the poll began, almost 300,000 votes have been received via Top100DJs.net for a wide range of DJs. At the back end of the online poll, the IP addresses and emails of all votes have been monitored for any dubious practices and already many of these have been removed.

In addition to this, on Monday 9th August, we were alerted to a video detailing how a DJ could cheat using a well-known international jobs site. As a result of investigations into this site and others, it was found that a number of DJs or their representatives were allegedly trying to pay coder companies in India and elsewhere to obtain thousands of votes for them illegally.

As the magazine went to press, we were in the process of confronting these DJs and their teams with the evidence. The first two DJs confronted flatly denied any improper methods, as did their agency, so as yet no DJ has been disqualified. Instead, the focus has now been turned to the Indian coders and whether their mysterious job offers had not been created by DJmag Top 100 DJs denigrator’s intent on causing mischief, or fellow DJs trying to tarnish the names of some of their bigger competition.

DJmag is determined to ensure that the poll is as fair and representative to the current worldwide DJ scene as possible, and to this end we have now decided to set up an amnesty to highlight illegal voting practices. Please note, investigations are continuing in earnest and will not cease to do so until voting ends on September 23rd, giving you over a month in which to pursue all genuine votes. There is still everything to play for…

**Anybody with any evidence or suspicions about a DJ receiving illegal votes is invited to email us at amnesty@djmag.com in complete confidence**

Also, any DJ or their representative who has already been using illegal voting methods can email DJmag in full confidence detailing how they obtained illegal votes. If they do so, these votes will be immediately discounted but they themselves won’t be disqualified. Again, please note, if a DJ doesn’t own up to acting illegally and they are found to have cheated, they will be immediately disqualified and publicly named and shamed.

We will keep you posted on our findings.

DJmag Top 100 DJs – Cheating Investigation…

It has come to our attention through various avenues that some artists have been cheating in the DJmag Top 100 DJs. As you will imagine we do not condone cheating of any kind and will take action against all those found to be doing so. We want a fair result as much, if not more so, than the DJs and public and have stringent guidelines in place that must be followed by ALL artists/labels/agencies, it is also highly apparent when auditing votes where cheating has taken place and thousands of votes are discounted every year. We will not turn blind eyes for anyone.

Please support you favourite DJs by casting your genuine votes here: www.top100djs.net and be reassured that action is being taken against all those involved in cheating scams.

As always, the DJmag Top 100 DJs is providing a massive promotional tool to DJs old and new, unknown and world famous, which is one of the best things about the poll. Helping talent get recognised, giving people a leg up to higher realms and giving the public a voice from which to cast out their opinions on the international DJ scene. Not to mention our no-holds-barred final parties (2010 is the first year we’ve held two) in both London and Manchester on October 27th! No doubt they're going to be mental…

DJMAG TOP 100 DJS 2010!!!! VOTING UNDERWAY!

The ultimate reflection of the year in dance music, DJmag Top 100 DJs has become one of the biggest occasions in the global dance calendar. With voting open to the public from the 28th July until the 23rd September 2010, DJmag Top 100 DJs spans nearly two months and culminates in 2 huge events this year, both taking place on the 27th October.

The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list is used extensively by promoters worldwide to determine the popularity and visibility of international DJs, resulting in extensive PR campaigns promoting everyone from the biggest superstar name to the smallest local DJ. The benefits of scoring high in the poll are blatantly apparent, for instance World’s number one DJ for the last 3 years, Armin Van Buuren has since met the Dutch Queen and past winner Tiesto has been invited to perform at the Olympics!

There is no doubt that trance DJs do score highly in the poll, but quite simply trance still reigns as one of the most popular genres worldwide. The last 12 months in dance music have seen some highly measurable changes, in particular with the storming return of house and disco, and no one can deny that Dubstep continues to soar to incredible heights. 2010 could well be the year that house peddler Aeroplane smashes through to the top levels alongside Dubstep heavyweights such as Skream, Benga or Caspa.

A 100% public vote, the final DJmag Top 100 DJs list is decided by dedicated dance music fans from over 230 countries! Last year over 350,000 votes were cast, and as viral campaigns become even more imaginativewe predict that number to rise significantly in 2010. With every genre covered and over 40,000 DJs names included last year there’s no telling how the poll could turn out... Last year’s Top 5: Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, David Guetta, Above & Beyond and Paul Van Dyk could well be uprooted from their thrones this year, only time (and a few hundred thousand votes) will tell...

Put simply, DJ Mag Top 100 DJs is the biggest and most exciting promotional opportunity available to DJs today!

15 Years of DJmag Ibiza Party: line-up announced...

Today's the day... the line up has finally been revealed for our 15 year anniversary party at Space! On Thursday 1st July we will be taking over the world class superclub and packing it to the rafters with some of the finest DJs around...

BOOKA SHADE
DERRICK CARTER
METRO AREA
SPOOKY
SILICONE SOUL
TENSNAKE
MARTINEZ BROTHERS

After much discussion and excitement in the office plans are finally set in stone for what will no doubt be one of the most long awaited nights of the season. And, of course, there's no doubt that our 15 year stint providing the island with free copies of our balearic counterpart will be commemorated with a bang.

And as the first issue of the two summer editions touches down on the same date, there will be extra reason to celebrate ahead of what is looking like the most promising season for the last few years.

With new nights cropping up left, right and centre, Kehakuma @ Space, Cadenza @ Pacha, Amnesia Presents vs People from Ibiza to name a few, let alone the long awaited reopening of the legendary DC10 and their Circoloco party, change is most definitely afoot on the white isle.

Also, this season sees successful night Monza move from Privilege to it's new home of Cova Santa, a seemingly unusual choice as it's actually an outdoor bar/restaurant not too far from Ibiza airport, which could go one of two ways with it's far out location... time will tell but fingers crossed they pull this off as their line ups have been some of the islands most consistent in recent times.

And as more and more people set up villa and secret parties around Ibiza by the minute, there definitely looks set to be some interesting things cropping up further afield. It does seem that the best place to rave right now is well out of the way of public areas in reaction to the ever more well policed afterparty laws, so it's definitely the season to keep your ears to the ground and your taxi money well topped up.

So here we go, only a week until the openings begin, and just over a month until our HUGE 15 Year anniversary shindig at Space!

See you on the island,

DJmag
